This morning I wrote a poem for my romantic euphemism:
Roses are red
Violets are blue
They’re both hermaphroditic sex organs
And that’s perfectly normal.
(Actually they’re not themselves hermaphroditic sex organs, but roses and several varieties of irises, if I understand correctly, possess both male and female gametes and sex organs – e.g., stamen and pistil. But I’m learning from the romantic euphemism to relax my literalism when there is humor to be had.)
